We were thrilled to be contacted by Peter Gill, who’s late father Alfred was in 601 Squadron during the early years. Unfortunately to date not much is known about Alfred’s days in the squadron, except that he was an ACI and II during the period of approximately 1926 through 1928. It’s hoped that in due course we can learn more about Alfred, but one bit comes from Peter:
“He had a slight dropped upper eyelid over his left eye. Apparently he forgot to duck on one occasion & got clouted by the lower wing of a biplane.”
What we do have is a rather splendid photo album. Click on the linked text to see photographs for the particular date.
